The FormBox was originally designed with the idea of democratising the making process by opening it up to those previously inhibited by time, price and accessibility. Ergo, most of our early efforts were targeted at two groups: industrial designers and craft makers.

As we’ve discovered since, the FormBox’s versatility has led to its adoption by one group in particular that we never imagined would embrace it with such verve: teachers. Completely organically, hundreds of educators around the world have discovered the effectiveness of teaching using the FormBox, especially in the STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics).

Despite the massive number of schools that don’t yet own an industrial vacuum former, we’re also selling to those that do. The buyers at these schools are clearly finding that the FormBox’s portability, user friendliness and low cost (most school vacuum formers cost well in excess of $3,000) has made it a desirable piece of equipment.

We’re currently working with school boards around the world – from the UK and EU, to the US, Middle East and Africa – to explore the different ways in which the FormBox can be integrated into the classroom. And it’s not just at the early stages of schooling that the machine can be utilised – top universities such as Cambridge, MIT, Princeton and Sciences Po have proven the FormBox’s effectiveness can extend to high-level research and further education.

In the interests of developing this sector, we’re in the process of launching an online teaching portal: Mayku Teach with FormBox. Mayku Teach features lesson plans tailored to national curricula, practical videos and lesson kits for schools. All of these resources are made for teachers by teachers and can be adapted by one of our expert educational partners to match other country’s curricula.

At the moment, our focus is on the junior/early age group (around eight to 13) where vacuum formers haven’t generally been used until now. Our hope is to dominate this sector and fan out from there.
